I took my Toyota RAV 4 for an oil change and emission test to Jiffy Lube Service Center #2636 located at 989 North Highway 89, North Salt Lake, UT 84054 (Reynolds Auto Care Centers LLC). The employee there suggested transmission flush, front and rear differential, engine flush and transfer case services. I trusted their %u201Cexpertise%u201D and let them do all the services they recommended. A few hours after the service, my husband and I drove the car out and noticed a few minor shifting differences. Then the car was mostly home over the weekend. Two days later, the car started to make sizzling sound and had white color smoke from transmission area and some kind of fluid leaking under the car, so we immediately took to the same Jiffy Lube store. They checked and found the transmission fluid leaking out and claimed that it might cause by loose hose and redo the transmission flush the next day without charge and insisted it was not their fault and they didn%u2019t touch any hoses. Two days later the buzzing/gridding noise started when we drove about 25 miles/hour. So we took it to a Toyota dealer to cross-check the problem. The Toyota dealer service advisor informed us that the transfer case and the rear differentials were leaking from the drain plug and the dealer had topped it off. Also, the wrong transmission fluid was in the car upon arrival. Basically all the major services done by this Jiffy Lube store were wrong. Additional lab test on the fluid shown that there is coolant contaminated in the transmission fluid. With the coolant contamination and aluminum count in the transmission, the dealer advices to replace the transmission. The dealer also indicated that they didn%u2019t find any other leaks from the transmission cooler. The Toyota dealer advisor sent the finding report to this Jiffy Lube shop to inform Jiffy Lube what they found. Before this Jiffy Lube services, our RAV4%u2019s condition was excellent and we never had any issues with it. In fact, the dealer had inspected the car two months ago with no issues found. In addition, this Jiffy Lube did the signature oil service and emission test on the same day and didn%u2019t find any problem with our car. We are extremely dissatisfied and angry at this Jiffy Lube shop for the way they handled this situation. Not only they ruined the transmission, but also they refused to provide any corrected action. We did not hear from the store owner at all after multiple requests of contacts. In addition, we were told that they are not responsible or liable for any repairs to the car unless we can prove that they contaminated the transmission fluid, even though they just added the fluid two days ago. They have the reports from the Toyota dealer showing the transmission and other services issues.
